It was another beautiful day for Horning Sailing Club’s second week of the 2022 season, with a good turnout of sailors on the River Bure outside the Clubhouse. There was a gentle breeze for the second week in a row and racing was pleasant, although there was still enough wind for an unexpected capsize amongst the dinghies! A variety of boats, including Rebels, Yeomans, a Yare & Bure and several dinghies took part, some for the first time this season after the winter break. First away were the Rebels, with the first race won by Kevin Edwards sailing Rebel Maid. The second race was incredibly close, just one second separating Kim West (Rebel Queen) and Rebel Maid. The afternoon series saw another win each for both Rebel Queen and Rebel Maid. There were five Yeomans sailing, with Toby Fields (Tanskey) winning the first race, Geoff Stubbs (Tara) close behind in second, and Chris Bolton (Folly) third. The second race saw Tara take a win, with Paul Clarke (Two C’Sons) second, and Folly third once again. In the afternoon series, Two C’Sons won two races, with Folly taking two seconds. The dinghies were the strongest fleet of the day, with Lasers, Toppers and a Splash. In the Allcomers B, Harrison Ryder won both morning races in his Splash, ahead of James Street sailing his Laser, with William Woolston third, also sailing a Laser, whilst in the Toppers Lily Herring won from Oliver Childerhouse in both races. During the afternoon, Harrison won his third race of the day, with Dan Herring sailing a Laser winning the fourth, daughter Lily winning two further races amongst the Toppers.
