It was a breezy weekend at Horning Sailing Club, which provided for some exciting and lively racing. Activity began on Saturday with the second week of the Sundown Series on the river, attracting both keelboats and dinghies. The keelboat race was won by Jack Copping sailing Yare & Bure Scarce Copper ahead of Jeremy Tusting in Brimstone. Racing was close amongst the dinghies, with all three races going to Anya Gittins in her Topper. As the gusts blew, this resulted in numerous capsizes – one Topper sailor counting 9 capsizes in one race!
Sunday saw racing on Hoveton Little Broad, where the weed caused a few challenges, particularly for the Yeomans, and the winds were changeable – from strong gusts to relatively calm. The first Yeoman race was won by Geoff Stubbs in Tara, the second and third by Toby Fields in Tanskey. The first Rebel race went to Amanda Barnes in Rebel Jade, with the remaining two races won by Kim West in Rebel Queen. Alastair Fields won two races in the Yares & Bures. The dinghies again saw particularly close racing; on the first Allcomers B race just one second separating the first and second finishes of James Street and Jasper Richardson sailing their Laser Radials, with Anya Gittins winning the Toppers. The second Allcomers B race was won by Hamish Harmer sailing his Splash, with Jasmine Herring winning the Toppers, and the final race saw Jasper take a first in the Allcomers B, with Anya winning the Toppers.
