With Hoveton Little Broad having reopened for the summer season, Horning Sailing Club returned there for racing on Sunday. A combination of a terrible forecast and a clash with Thurne Mouth Open Regatta saw a diminished turnout, but for the dinghies, Yare & Bures and Yeoman who did brave the conditions, they were rewarded with better weather than predicted and a breeze that picked up throughout the morning. The Yare & Bures saw a battle between Alastair Fields (Rosy Wave) and Kim West (Nevada Blue), with Alastair winning all three races. There was also a close finish between father and daughter Jasper Copping sailing a Norfolk Dinghy and Nieve sailing a Topper, with Nieve finishing first over the water in the first two races, Jasper first (by 2 seconds!) in the last race.
Attention now focuses on next weekend – the 63rd Yachtmaster Three Rivers Race, with the action starting from Horning Sailing Club at 11am, Saturday 1st June.
