After another busy Saturday which saw the Club’s Sundown series continue with a good turnout in light winds, on Sunday racing returned to Hoveton Little Broad, with a decent breeze challenging competitors.
As many sailors get ready for the Club’s Regatta Week, which is a little under 2 weeks away, a mixed fleet of Yeoman, Yare & Bures, a Rebel, Reedling, Cruiser and dinghies raced.
The dinghies were the most hotly contested fleet, with the first race won by Hamish Harmer (Splash), with Jasmine Herring (Laser Radial) second, and third was Tallulah Reardon-Burr (Laser Radial). Hamish also won the second race, with Jasmine second and Anya Gittins (Splash) third, before the pattern was repeated for the final race, with the exception of Jasper Copping coming third (Norfolk Dinghy).
The Yeomans saw close competition between Toby Fields and Daniel Blackwell (Tanskey) and Steve Middleditch and Maria Spreadbury (Scorpio), Toby eventually taking all three wins. It was similarly close in the Yares & Bures, with Alastair Fields and Kevin Blackwell (Rosy Wave) just staying ahead of Kim West and Nancy Roberts (Nevada Blue), the first race seeing just seconds separate the finishers on the line.
Next weekend sees racing continue on the Broad.
