It felt like Spring had sprung at Horning Sailing Club this weekend with its busiest sailing event of the season yet. The Island was a hive of activity both on and off the water, with a number of keelboats and dinghies racing. The main fleets of the day were the Yeomans and dinghies, with seven Yeomans competing during the course of racing, and ten dinghies.
In the Yeomans, Toby Fields (Tanskey) made it three wins in the series, with Paul Clarke (Two C Sons) second twice, Roger Pettit (Anoih) receiving a second and third, Caroline Johnson (Cornelian) a third place, with Steve Middleditch (Scorpio) also third in the afternoon race.
Amongst the dinghies, Chris Bolton sailing his Solo won three races, with Hamish Harmer (Splash) second, Anya Gittins (Splash) and James Street (Laser) also took a third place each.
The final race took an Allcomers format, with Chris Bolton winning his fourth race of the day ahead of James Street, with Hamish Harmer third. In the mixed Rebels/Yare & Bures, Kevin Edwards (Rebel Maid) won ahead of Kim West (Nevada Blue), whilst in the mixed Yeomans & Allcomers, Paul Clarke took the win.
All in all, in the warm sunshine the winds were variable but provided good racing conditions, and a great opportunity for an early season sail.
