It was a beautiful spring day for Horning Sailing Club’s river racing on Sunday. Starting in flat calm conditions, there was very little breeze to begin with, but during the morning this gradually picked up to provide pleasant sailing conditions. Whilst the keelboats were low in numbers, the Yeomans in particular enjoyed close racing, with the first race seeing an extremely close finish between the first three boats, with Toby Fields (Tanskey), finishing just ahead of Tara (Geoff Stubbs) and Two C Sons (Paul Clarke) third. The second race saw Tanskey get away, but a battle ensued between Tara and Two C Sons, the latter just managing to catch Tara on the final leg of the course to finish in second. The third race saw Two C Sons win, with Tanskey second.
In keeping with the season so far, the dinghies remained a competitive fleet with Splashes, Toppers and Lasers on the water. Finishes were extremely tight and the first Allcomers B race went to Anya Gittins in her Splash, with Eleanor Holmes (Splash) second, and Tallulah Burr (Laser) third. The second race saw a win for Tallulah, with Anya second and James Street (Laser) third. The third race saw another win for Anya, followed by Eleanor, with James third, before the final race was won by Tallulah, with William Woolston second (Laser) and James third. In the Toppers, Jasmine Herring won the day’s racing, with Lily Herring second.
